Under the guidance of Comrade Paulo Pombolo, Secretary General of the MPLA, the Secretariat of the Political Bureau held Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at the party’s national headquarters in Luanda, its second ordinary meeting.

The Secretariat of the MPLA’s Political Bureau reviewed the draft Executive Directive on the participation of MPLA militants, supporters and friends in the process of implementing the Integrated Municipal Intervention Plan (PIIM), urging them to contribute to the said plan improving the living conditions of local populations and economies.

The Party’s executive body also addressed the country’s economic and financial situation by encouraging the head of the Executive Branch, João Lourenço, to continue with actions aimed at macroeconomic stability.
The Secretariat of the Political Bureau of the MPLA also discussed fundamental aspects of the municipal legislative package and approved the proposal to fill vacancies in the positions of the specialised working committees of the National Assembly and the Group of Women Parliamentarians.

Regarding internal life, among other matters, the Secretariat of the Political Bureau analysed the annual plan of activities and events for 2020 and the process of exchanging the militant card.

The Secretariat of the Political Bureau of the MPLA made adjustments in the composition of its Monitoring Groups to the Provinces, starting the process of preparation of the working days for Cabinda, to be held next August.

The VIII Ordinary Congress of the JMPLA, held from 10 to 12 October of the same year, was likewise evaluated at the meeting, and a good note was given to the work to prepare the conclave.
The Secretariat of the Political Bureau welcomes the positive response that various sectors of society have given to the needs of drought-stricken populations in the south of the country, particularly in Cunene province, and appeals to militants, sympathisers, friends, MPLA and civil society in order to continue the current of solidarity with the victims of this scourge.
