Civil society actors in South Kivu

Civil society actors in South Kivu and members of citizen movements call on the Congolese state to launch a fact-finding mission to cell phone companies, oil tankers and carriers in order to punish those who raise the price of goods and services.

They made the call in a joint statement released on Tuesday May 12, 2020 in Bukavu.

In this declaration, civil society actors regret the depression of the Congolese francs in the face of foreign currency. A dollar is traded on the black market at 1950fc, a situation which pushes certain operators to hide behind the exchange rate to raise the price of goods and services.

Civil society actors further denounce the fact that Congolese consumers continue to suffer enormous damage with the unimaginable skyrocketing price of telecommunication house services when the same services are undesirable.

They also denounce the cunning of certain traders who keep the same price per liter of fuel while the barrel of oil has gone from 67 dollars in December to 20 dollars today.

All calculations made by social actors show that a liter of fuel today had to be bought at 700FC

In this joint declaration, member organizations of civil society and members of citizens’ movements ask the Congolese state to rigorously monitor price structures.

This is done through the national and provincial ministries in charge of the Economy, telecommunications and hydrocarbons. If these recommendations are not followed, the signatories promise to use other means to make their voices heard.

Moïse Katumbi on situation in DR Congo

moise KatumbiExactly one year since the former governor of Haut-Katanga returned to the country, after his exile abroad. Moïse Katumbi Chapwe took this opportunity to read the situation in the country, in the light of current events and the current context.

In an interview carried out from his native village Kashobwe and diffused in several media of Kinshasa and Lubumbashi, this member of the presidium of Lamuka expressed the wish to see a real change taking place in the country, since the third false penalty did not not occurred. According to him, this is the leitmotif of his fight.

According to the president of the Ensemble for the Republic, Félix Tshisekedi’s assessment for the Congolese people in 2023 will be from the UDPS and not from the FCC-CACH coalition.

“This is advice I give to my brothers in the UDPS and to the President of the Republic because in 2023 people will not say that it is the result of the coalition. No, they will see the one at the top, “explains Moïse Katumbi.

In addition, the president sponsor of Almighty Mazembe recommended to president Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo and his party to work to meet the primary needs of the population.

Regarding the Lamuka platform, Moïse Katumbi argued that despite minor hiccups and differences, Lamuka remains a family and that they all remain members.

“My brother Jean-Pierre Bemba, Martin Fayulu and Aldophe Muzito, we are still a family. In a family, there are always differences. Even in our own homes, there are always problems. It is up to us to show our maturity, “he said.

For Katumbi, the 2018 elections were chaotic. He does not see the honorary President of the Republic, Joseph Kabila Kabange, being treated as the father of democracy.

The man recalled that since his return to the country, he works for the consolidation and the establishment of his party, Together for the Republic. A party from the 5 former opposition parties, notably the Social Movement (MS) of Pierre Lumbi, the Alliance of Democrats for Progress (ADP) of Christophe Lutundula, ARC of Kamitatu Olivier and many others.

Moïse Katumbi does not exclude the possibility of running for the next elections as candidate for president of the Republic, to put in place a salutary plan for the DRC.
